Introduction
The Lowcountry Chapter of the American Harp Society, Inc., is an organization of professional, amateur, and folk harpists on both lever and pedal harps. This chapter is one of more than 70 chapters of the AHS and membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the harp. The LowCountry Chapter represents the Harpists of Coastal Carolina from Savannah to Charleston.
Our goal is to encourage the love of the harp, enhance its presence, and to bring the beauty of the harp to the next generation.

The mission of the American Harp Society is to celebrate our legacy, inspire excellence, and empower the next generation of harpists.
About the AHS
With over 3,000 members from all 50 states and 20 countries, the American Harp Society, Inc., founded in 1962, is the largest national organization of harpists in the world. Members include leading soloists, orchestral players, commercial, jazz and popular performers, freelancers, harp therapists, college and university professors, adult amateurs, and students of all ages.
Recent Events
The Lowcountry AHS Chapter recently presented two concerts highlighting the music and culture of the Lowcountry. The programs featured the premiere performances of a commission made possible by a grant from the AHS of "A Lowcountry Suite" an arrangement of Gullah spirituals for Harp Ensemble by Rhett Barnwell . The first concert, which was co-sponsered by the Hilton Head Choral Society, was on February 26, 2022 at St. Andrew By-The-Sea UMC, HHI. The second concert was on Sunday, February 27 at Lightsey Chapel & Auditorium, Charleston Southern University, Charleston, SC.
